The Cumulative
Effect:
Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture has been practiced for thousands
of years for a reason. Typically, a series of 10-12 treatments is
performed in a short period of time and what most people don’t
know, is acupuncture gains the most effective results through
cumulative and frequent treatments. Most of the studies and research
performed are based on the fact that acupuncture treatments are
administered at least 2-3 times per week, if not daily, with breaks
in courses of treatment. This
has proven to be the most effective in acupuncture practice because
it takes an accumulative effect on the body. You wouldn’t take one
dose of anti-biotics just once a week for 10 weeks or your
nutritional supplement once a week to gain its beneficial
effects…would you?
Typically, in the United States, private practice acupuncture is
performed on a weekly basis. This is done mainly because one, if
you are paying out of pocket for healthcare, this can generally be
very expensive, and two, the amount of time you dedicate to therapy
can be very time consuming...and most of us are busy going from one
place to the next. In China, acupuncture is practiced at least 2-3
times per week, if not daily, as mentioned above. In fact, most of
the research and studies about the effects of acupuncture show that
it is administered on a more frequent basis than once a week,
especially for acute conditions.
Many of you are seeking acupuncture because you have found that
other conventional or alternative treatments haven’t been working
for you, or you cannot afford the expense of healthcare in the US.
Maybe you’re interested in acupuncture because you’ve heard it
works for your particular health concern...whatever the reason, I
want to make it convenient and easy for you to seek acupuncture as
a form of healthcare.
Your first visit will last approximately 1.5 hours and will include
a thorough assessment of your health condition and history and an
acupuncture treatment. Your follow-up visits will consist of 1 hour
treatments that may vary slightly from one another according to
your personal diagnosis. Preventive maintenance treatments or
follow-up courses of treatment are recommended and will be
discussed after your first course of treatment has been
completed.
I encourage people seeking acupuncture to consider the above
mentioned course of treatment, because it is the most
time-efficient and effective protocol.
Less
time and money will be spent, and more dramatically effective
results can be seen to see how acupuncture may benefit you with a
commitment to this course of treatment. Wouldn’t you rather spend
less time and less money to regain your wellness
back?
Weekly, preventive, or maintenance acupuncture treatments are
always available for those of you who would like to come in for
periodic tune-ups at the regular rate*. These visits generally last
for about 1 hour to address any new concerns and changes since your
last treatment.
*Rate reflects an accepted reduced rate for those of you who are
paying at the time of service. If insurance is being billed, full
charges will apply.
